£35,464 (up to £42,012 may be available for an exceptional candidate)


Based in London – Permanent - 36 hours per week


The Customer Information Team in HM Revenue and Customs’ (HMRC) Communications and Marketing division specialises in designing forms, guidance and other public information products critical to the department\'s business.​ Improving the extensive product range plays a major part in making the tax system as easy as possible for HMRC customers.​ So, Customer Information Team work is a substantial enabler for the HMRC Vision.​


A key element in delivery is the continual, leading-edge development of product design standards, to keep HMRC at the forefront of customer communications.​


You will need extensive experience and proficiency in information design disciplines.​ In particular:


    * to continue the development of sophisticated information design guidelines essential to the work of the in-house team of Customer Information Team product designers
    * to develop and maintain design templates, libraries and style palettes
    * to train and mentor on a group and individual basis
    * to deliver key products which have particular complex information design challenges
    * to represent Customer Information Team at wider design forums
    * to keep up-to-date with external information design best practice and promote this within Customer Information Team/​HMRC where relevant.​


The role will involve being the \'HMRC information product design expert\' both within the Customer Information Team and wider.​ The successful candidate will work as part of a small team, together focused on all the (wider) expert, technical needs of the Customer Information Team design team, and HMRC, relating to the customer information product catalogue.​


This role will suit people with a keen interest in developing customer-focused communications in the exciting HMRC Communications and Marketing environment.​


You will have extensive experience of, and relevant qualifications in, Information Design disciplines and a good working knowledge of applications i.​e.​ Quark Xpress, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat.​ Experience of designing a range of information products, such as scanned products for automated data capture, or products including dynamic content from composition software (for example, Pitney Bowes’ Doc1) is also required.​
